How do I notify you of a death?

At such a difficult time we try to ensure the process of informing us is as easy as possible. If you are responsible for managing the affairs of someone who has passed away we will guide you through the process step by step to ensure everything is managed correctly with regard to their annuity.

We therefore have a dedicated bereavement line specifically for this purpose. Please call us on 01737 233297 Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 5.30pm.

It is really important for you to notify us as soon as possible so we can ensure that any ongoing annuity payments are paid to the correct person (ie if this is within a guarantee period, or a spouse or dependant's annuity has been arranged). We will commence payment to the beneficiary once we have the necessary documents (see below).

We send the necessary correspondence to the executors of the deceased, and we settle any relevant monies owing to the deceased’s estate.

Once we have spoken to you, we will send you details of the information we have taken down in the post. If there is a named dependant or nominated beneficiary on the policy, we will ask you to complete a claim form.

Depending on the type of annuity, we may need you to send in:-

  • the original Death Certificate
  • a Certified Will and/or a Grant of Probate.

We will explain what we need and any implications when we speak to you.
