Getting advice and support

Retirement can mean a period of financial and emotional adjustment as you come to terms with the changes that are happening and enter a new phase of your life.

Good financial information is essential to help you make the most of your finances in retirement. There are a wealth of resources within this site but it’s also worth considering Moneyadviceservice.org.uk, a free and unbiased advice service set up to enhance the nation's financial capability, as well as gov.uk, which has a wealth of information in its retirement planning section.

It is also worth investing in some advice from a qualified financial adviser. If you haven't already got a financial adviser, you can use the website Unbiased.co.uk to find one local to you.

Another way to protect your finances in retirement is to be aware of scams that are currently around. With that in mind we are able, courtesy of the Metropolitan Police Service's Operation Sterling , to provide a pdf version of the Met's Little Book of Big Scams. They also have a fraud alert website with details on the latest scams in operation and news relating to fraud.

Age UK also produce a booklet called Avoiding Scams which is full of useful information.
