Vulnerable homeowners to benefit from new equity release advice service
07/06/2012

Just Retirement has teamed up with national home improvement agency body Foundations to launch a new project to help more vulnerable homeowners realise the potential of equity release.

The enhanced annuity specialist has provided training to staff at 48 home improvement agencies (HIA) to enable them to advise people on how they can unlock the value in their properties to fund home repairs and adaptations.

These HIAs, which assist older, disabled or less well-off homeowners and tenants repair and maintain their homes, will then introduce interested clients to equity release experts Just Retirement Solutions Limited.

Stephen Lowe, director of Just Retirement, said: "We were keen to engage with Foundations because we firmly believe that where people have few other choices, equity release has the potential to transform vulnerable people's lives, making it possible for them to continue to live more comfortably in their own homes."

Mr Lowe added that the project could be rolled out to all 200 home improvement agencies across the country if the six-month pilot is successful.

Just Retirement has created a more affordable equity release product as part of the scheme, offering lower fees than standard and £700 cashback.
