Just Retirement was launched in August 2004 and was listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) from December 2006 to November 2009, at which time it became a wholly owned subsidary of Avalon Acquisitions Limited (Avalon).
Avalon is a company that is controlled by certain funds managed by the European private equity firm Permira Advisers LLP (Permira).
Permira owns and manages a number of well-known high-street brands including New Look, Hugo Boss, the AA, Saga and Birds Eye.
Permira’s aim is to build Just Retirement into the UK’s leading retirement brand by providing investment support for broadening the products and services we offer and investing in our operational capability.

It was founded in 1985 and has since made over 190 private equity investments.
